A stunning vintage R. DeRosa Bracelet, this delightful piece consists of five, 5mm rhinestones flanked by twenty 3.5mm rhinestones set in an exquisite sterling mounting with the main body of bracelet in a gold wash that accentuates the twenty rhinestones in sterling. The safety chain is original and intact and measures a generous 2.5 inches. DeRosa signature in block caps is stamped on the inside of clasp. Substantially well made and exquisite!
Italian Immigrant Ralph DeRosa founded Ralph DeRosa Co. in New York City in 1934 after studying Design in Naples Italy. DeRosa was born in 1884 and died in 1942. His family was renowned for their jewelry designs. The company was run by his wife Elvira, who also designed. His daughters Virginia and Theresa also ran the company. Production eventually came to an end in 1970.
DeRosa’s signature style is well known for the designs reserved for more expensive jewelry of its time and the techniques were Floral, lace, and retro themes like exaggerated bows were common; figurals were not really produced. Typical designs were sumptuous and featured gold-plated metal set with richly colored rhinestones and translucent enameling. Sterling pieces can be found from 1942 until 1949. Exceptional in quality and design, the jewelry was often unmarked or marked only with paper hang tags. DeRosa signed jewelry is therefore rare and will command high prices. When a piece of DeRosa costume jewelry is signed, the mark could be difficult to read due to age and wear. DeRosa pieces were and are still considered valuable. Until at least 1955, the trademark “R. DE ROSA” in block letters was used.
